We caught up with Andrea to find out more about her role heading up the litigation team, her experiences, and how she feels supported at Enstar.
What attracted you to join Enstar?
I joined Castlewood, Enstar’s predecessor, over 18 years ago; at that time the company was just expanding into the US, so it was an exciting time to join.
What does the Litigation department at Enstar do?
The litigation team is a legal resource for the business. Most of our work involves assisting the business when one of our company entities is named directly in a lawsuit or arbitration.
Some days the team is working on targeted litigation tasks, such as document discovery, deposition preparation, reviewing and editing motions and briefs, while other days the team is providing advice or strategy on a coverage or claims issue, settlement evaluations, attending depositions, mediations, settlement meetings or oral arguments and court conferences.
The team also does a significant amount of training for Enstar employees; from understanding the litigation process, extra contractual exposure, savvy communication style, reinsurance hot topics, and offering roundtables on emerging trends in areas that are relevant to the company (e.g. climate change, opioids, pfas).
In what ways does Enstar support your work / life balance?
This is an important topic for me as I’ve struggled for years to find that “balance”. Enstar management was very supportive in my decision to relocate to a city that offers so many opportunities to explore activities outside of my work and I am thoroughly enjoying myself and my new city!
What is your favourite part about working for Enstar?
There is something unique about the group of people that work at Enstar. Teams work collaboratively with each other to support the company’s goals. And everybody’s really passionate about what they do.
